Group advocates for nursing home patients

Friday, Oct. 2, 2009

October is Residents' Rights Month and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is looking to raise awareness of the rights of people living in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult family care homes.
Approximately 160,000 seniors in Florida live in long-term care facilities and are provided with a bill of residents' rights, which deals with issues such as medication, food and matters of dignity and respect.
People who have concerns or questions about their facility, or their family members or friends, can contact the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program to resolve disputes and make complaints. Those services are free and confidential. To find out more, visit ombudsman.myflorida.com or call (888) 831-0404.
